Correct IATA code?

Wikipedia seems to think that SXE belongs to the RAAF base at East Sale while the OurAirports DB has SXE associated with both (shouldn't this be a unique key?).

Picture of

Stephenville International Airport

Best Airport in Atlantic Canada, for runway, and weather conditions. Just wish AC would return or Porter Airlines would consider serving the region with YJT as it's airport of choice. Politics has moved 90% of Aviation to Deer Lake Regional Airport. A government funded airport while Stephenville sits with no funding what so ever.

re: Beautiful Place!

Reply to @Tony: As far as the approach goes, I agree. I and many other pilots land to the East. I feel it is a much better and safer approach. I assume the recommendation to land to the East is because in the event of a go-around, you may have to head to the right to avoid the rising terrain, and fly out over the river. This would not be a problem unless you were very low and 2/3rds of the way down the strip before deciding to go around. In my opinion, you need to commit one or the other way before that.

If you land on runway 7, you can fly around the corner down the river a ways, and set up a nice base-to-final approach, (of course announcing your actions on 122.9.) Then, you can come straight in on final, and clear the trees, and by the time you get down, you have avoided the extended West end of the strip, which is fairly rough. You can still ususually get stopped by the Ranger Station gate, well before the tiedowns at the East end near the campground.

I would not recommend taking off to the East unless you have a good short-field airplane, and the wind is significant from the East, which is rare here.

Friendliest FBO I've ever been to!

I spent some time in Beatrice on business. Friendliest FBO staff I've ever seen. I landed in 2010 during the summer heat wave, and I was literally dead on my feet after 8 hours in a 100+ degree plane. The woman working at the FBO told me to go inside and get some free ice water and she would refuel my airplane (at the self service pump) and find me a place to stay overnight. They charged me fuel at the self-service rate, even though they put the fuel in for me. I've been back a few times and every time Beatrice is always as friendly as it was the first time.

Support your airport

This airport has only 6 based airplanes and is losing more every year! The town of Wheatland should do more to promote and take care of this valuable piece of real estate!!! You'll be sorry if it goes away and someone in your family has an emergency and needs a Flight for Life to the nearest trauma center. Phifer Field has the potential to be so much better than it is if the town would only take some interest in it.

Weather is usually affected by low clouds in the morning due to marine humidity condensing on the mountains south of airfield.

In this case it is usually better to descend over the sea and approach the field from N (GijΓ²n). For the same reason departures are easier northbound to climb above clouds over sea.

Useful info

Nice airfield close to Jerez de la Frontera.

Wind is usually strong (ca. 20Kts) but amost aligned with runway. Be careful in case of southern wind (rare). Approach is a little tricky because runway is on top of a hill and ground height difficult to appreciate.

Pay attention to neighbouring LE-R154 (GND-SEA/6000ft AMSL, ROTA AB).

Remember to close FPL by radio with Jerez TWR 118.55 when field in sight or after landing by phone Jerez ARO +34-956150106.

Airfield is usually unattended. Coordinate ARR and DEP with airport manager +34-677428329, +34-619558362, +34-625461216.

Nadirgul is a small airstrip, 12 nm South-East of Hyderabad located on the Nagarjuna Sagar Highway. Nadirgul airfield has two runways both of which are just about 3000' long and 75' wide. The main runway is paved, while the second runway is un-paved.

This airfield has been serving primarily the needs of the aspiring trainee pilots in Hyderabad. As of now Andhra Pradesh Flying Club(APFC), Flytech Aviation Academy and Rajiv Gandhi Aviation Academy(RGAA) are using this field to train pilots. Flytech Aviation has set up its own hangar in this field.

Nadirgul has no instrument approach procedure laid as there are no radio navigational equipment installed. Nadirgul is classified to VMC conditions and no night landing facilities like REIL, REL, ALS, Taxiway lights, PAPI and VASI etc. are installed. The runway orientation is 10-28 paved surface. Interestingly, Nadirgul has an unpaved runway RW10R-RW28L parallel to the paved(and main)runway. The runway is slightly inclined towards RW28 (RW28 is 1804' and RW10 is 1790'). Local surface winds favor the use of RW28 till the late August and RW10 till the late February. Though not designated (and maintained) as a runway, a specific portion of the airfield is left as a cross-runway (RW14-RW32 they call). Though not often used, the primary idea is to facilitate any emergency landings, if needed during the training flights(trainees mostly fly single engine planes like Cessna 152 and Cessna 172). The circuit altitude is 2600' and the pattern is South of the field as North of Nadirgul is residential area. For all practical purposes, METAR and TAFOR issued for Hyderabad airport are used. Also, there is no specific ATC here, but the trainees usually do the needful.

After the opening of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, all the training flights were supposed to be shifted to the Begumpet Airport. But Nadirgul still remains active in service.

Nice field

Just landed there in my Mooney M20J. The turf field is nicely kept, rolled every year so very few bumps. The owners still have a few lots on the airpark for sale. All in all, very nice.

Bokaro the heaven city

Sir,

My emotions with Bokaro is very high because I have grown myself educatiionaly there only. Now I am retired from Indian Air Force as an Assistan Flying Contoller/flight operaion manager/Apron and hanger manager and looking for job in Bokaro only because my father had also serve for SAIL for 26 years in BSP.I too want to serve for SAIL. So, I am just waiting and watching when it will become operational and I get a chance to serve. . . . . . .

Regards,

Ainul Haque

Picture of

No doubt in its opeational

Bokaro airport is already capable to handle the flights regularly because it has the proper infra for the facilities. Even the Runway is far longer than Jamshedpur. But it is not becoming operational because of the management and the DGCA who is giving the permission for flight operation from a particuar aiport/aerdromes. One fine day it will be operational. It is sure ..... Just wait and watch...

re: New English Bulldog Puppy Scam

Pretty sure I just got scammed. I sent about $130 to a woman with the email address meganmelisa@yahoo.com for an English Bulldog puppy named Kotter. I have been talking to her for about 2 weeks, and she has told me her son was sick before, then yesterday she told me her son passed away but the puppy will be here today, which hasn't happened, but while I was out of town today, she sent me an email saying that it was urgent and she needed to talk to me asap, so I'm pretty sure she is going to give me the story about the cargo person getting killed by a passing car. This has made me very upset. I took that money from my birthday.

Tricky winds, cheap gas

This airport is a gem!!! The staff are Real Friendly, they have both Jet-A and 100LL, the airport grounds are immaculate, and the terminal building is complete and neat (my wife approves of the washrooms). The runway is 02/20 so be prepared for crosswinds, and there is a lot of mechanical turbulence when the wind is strong from the west. No landing fees, parking is $6.50+HST per night (waived if you buy gas), and the 100LL price when I visited was $1.70+HST (same price as we are paying at Rockcliffe). This airport is much quieter than Gore Bay.

Picture of jasmantle

Terrific little airport, great scenery

My wife and I were flying from Rockcliffe CYRO to Manitoulin Island CYEM, but flight planned to stop here first for lunch at the Killarney Mountain Lodge. I also filled up with 100LL here, expecting gas would be more expensive on the Island (it wasn't). Beware the radio/etc towers around the field - maintain proper patterns and altitudes and there will be no problems. The waters of Georgian Bay are a beautiful blue-green from the air, and the people of Killarney are extremely friendly. We phoned the Killarney Mountain Lodge, and they came out and picked us up for lunch, then brought us back to the airport. See the NOTAMs for the phone numbers and hours for gas at the field (things are a bit more slow-paced in God's country). Gas is somewhat expensive, no landing fees, and they have a donation box if you choose (the federal and provincial governments provide no funds to this airport). Very good tie down area.

Picture of

South River CPE6

12/30 has been reduced to 75' width; 04/22 is still full width. The idea is to make space for hangar lots on the south side of the airport property (MNR owns the land around the airport). The airport committee is taking their own sweet time to move on this, however.

Still cash or cheque for fuel (100LL). The runways have been thoroughly rolled this spring, and are very smooth (for turf on a sand base). The hill mentioned below is on the approach end of 30; be prepared to land deep, but touchdown before the intersection is not demanding for light aircraft. The rest of the runway approaches are pretty flat, although 04 could use some tree-pruning at the approach (south) end. There are some cell towers to the west and south of the field, just outside the circuit. Currently, there is one more (and bigger) hangar than the picture shows, at the south-east end of the line of three hangars.

Hap's

I was very disappointed with Hap's. You would think for an airport that size and an FBO that has been operating since 1946(or whatever the sign said) they would have better service. I landed here two times, once for fuel and lunch, and the second to stay overnight. Neither time did an employee bother to clean my windscreen. When I landed to overnight, a line guy met me on the ramp to ask about fuel and parking. I was unloading my bags as he drove away in the golf cart. A pilot that landed in a jet and parked next to my 172 offered to help me with my bags since I was alone and had three bags to carry.

I hope for Hap's sake a better service FBO doesn't start up at Ames, because they would lose business with any competition whatsoever.

From Wikipedia

Amravati has an aerodrome which is about 15 km off NH-6 towards Akola. It is in the area called Belora. The aerodrome is not used for commercial purposes. It is used only by politicians and others with private jets. It has a 1.5 km runway and a helipad.
