Have had a job around the corner in 2007 and 2008. This looks like a former used military airfield, in 2007 there were 8 of these big helicopters parked, one of them without rotor blades.

As you maybe aware RAF pilots hate your noise too, the noise of your lips spewing drivel and the intensely deafening sound off your fingers on your keyboard. Unattended agro-strip, be very careful about deep holes on both sides of runway (drainage chambers without cover)
Personal experience. Drainage chamber covers are stolen by metal pickers. Airstrip inside CTR LZSL, in the vicinity of airport, military traffic observed

For Tidal info, consult the tables for "Barra North Bay". Generally speaking when the tide is below 3.0 meter the runways are usable. The first to be flooded is runway 29, then 33, lastly 25.

There are normally two scheduled flights a day with a turn-around time of 20-30 minutes. The twin otters will receive priority so plan a landing and departure at other times. Schedules are at irregular, but published times.
It is advisable to phone Barra airport authority before departure.

Not a great transit airport, not a place you want to be, bad service, lousy shops and restaurants, no resting area.

in my opinion, everything run above standard, security, immigration, connections and transfer service, restaurants, shops, areas to rest etc.
