As of January 24, 2012 the airport - new airport facilities - has just begun. A drive by scheduled in the next few days will confirm if the tunnel for the road traffic has been started. Noise or not this airport will be a benifit for everyone! Hell maybe even my Mom can convince my stuck in the mud father to get on the plane for a visit now that the drive will be shortened to 35mins to Penonome!
Runway Condition
I went & inspected the East-West runway by foot to see if it was suitable to land there on my next visit. The runway is clay/dirt, 1.5 car width, narrow, with a slight undulation along it. There are rocks that protrude from the surface, but nothing that a standard or heavy duty aircraft wheel would not be able to handle. You could only turn around at the runway thresholds.
There are no services out there. An unlocked gate to get to the airfield, but then another gate is locked at access to hangar and tarmac parking. It may be a private airport now, but best to phone the Castlemaine Council. It would actually be a great airfield if runway condition better.
I did not get to observe the North-South runway, but as I drove away, it did not look like it was operational, as of Dec. 2011.
cancelled flights
On Jan. 23, 2012, the 3:20pm flight to Toronto was cancelled. A passenger was given another flight at the same time on the next day. He was not given transportation from and back to the airport, a hotel room, or meals. I'm very disappointed in Air Canada.
Not an airport
This is not an airport. The only aeronautical around here is the Naval Museum, some 500 meter to the south, which also has a couple of aircraft on display.

Airport/Runway
Runway in good condition, very pleasant airport manager, easy access to town, nice athletic club (tennis courts, soccer fields, pools, and sauna) adjacent to airport.

I am also facing the same issue with my wife. They are asking for a Filipino who is a resident of Malaysia to raise a invitation letter. Frankly, i do not know anyone in such capacity moreover no strange would stick their head to guarantee another stranger. This procedure is so full of shit! The Phil embassy in malaysia have no right to stop a Malaysian in his own country to invite his wife to his homeland. For GOD sake, this is my dam country!!!!

I have stumbled across this site and fail to understand the comments of some.
No one, but no one expects avgas for nothing. But to be charged more per litre than even Goolwa who I can assure you pay cartage to get the avgas to Goolwa and yet charge less than Aldinga who pay NO CARTAGE AT ALL.
To fly into Aldinga is risky as yes, there are 3 runways in operation at the same time which is totally uncalled for and unless one is familiar with the procedures, it is downright dangerous and totally uncalled for.
The guy from Tassie must have had a fist full of dollars as that is about the only thing that they worship. No money to spend with us, do not waste our time.
I can assure you that I have dealt with customers all my life and for the comments posted by some guy regarding the person who had a mechanical workshop all his life must now be employed by the helpful and nice lady.
Who in their right mind would wish to live near Aldinga aerodrome that now seems to be Basterdized by the sound of continuous buzzing of aircraft in all directions flying over the neighbors homes.
And then there is now a commercial operation operating large aircraft who I believe fly so low with no regard or consideration of the neiboring homes and properties.
Sorry, Aldinga is staffed by rude, arrogant, self opinionated, inconsiderate people who have a total disregard for Australians and are instigating some bad flying practice, and dangerous.
Nope, I stay away from Aldinga. There are friendlier places nearby who are friendlier and have visitors and aviators interests at heart without the aim of fleecing one.
Airport website
The airport website is not updated at regular intervals. It is suggested that the authorities should ensure that the arrival and departures are updated at least every half an hour if not then and there!!!

Runway is really "perched on the top of a hill", as mentioned by one of the commenter - and there are other hills, antennas and trees around, but the whole location is so very scenic, absolutely adorable. Runway and taxiways are in the perfect conditions, the airport is definitely maintained well, and there was a stash of wonderful flying machines in the hangar! Absolutely worth visiting.
Rough Surface
I was always interested in visiting Bradford because of the L'il Buzzard fame (www.ultralightnews.ca) - I think it is a great website and the whole approach of the owner is right on.
Unfortunately, the landing surface was really bad. One of the hangar folks described it to me in advance as horrible, and that turned to be true - pretty much like landing on the unprepared field with a hump in the middle. Fortunately frozen today, so bumps were stiff - and approaching through the cut in the tree line on short final was fun. Managed to almost get stuck a couple of times while taxiing, though - and overall perception of the airport was like it used to be very much alive, but went down lately.

YAT ND beacon
Copying the YAT beacon on 260.5 mhz with an Icom 756 ProIII in CW mode. Signal is very weak, however the morse identifier is audible enough to make out. I am using a multi-band Alpha Delta DXLB dipole. Location here is Milton, Ontario just west of Toronto.

There are so many reasons
1. People who go abroad, have to go via patna.
2. Businessmen who wish to fly frequently, have to waste much time.
3. Many companies could not come for campus selection in Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology beacause the HRs have not got much time to travel via road.
4. Tourists from abroad for vaishali face problems.

I have over 200 landings with the B737-200 and never had any problems with the RWY.
A precise approach and touchdown point is all you need.
BTW i flew into YGW when there were 2 strips before they condemned 03/21
