Hello, I'm so happy I found this! Thanks for sharing your experience. I was having some email exchange with an Alexix from Cameroon. They were asking me for $175 for a tea cup Yorkie Terrier. They even send me the airline information and promised saved arrival of the pet by douala_intl_airport_petdelivery@live.com. The listed name in the internet is windybronx. She said she was a woman with a good job and family, only looking to give her pet a loving family since they just moved to a new apartment and the landlord doesn't allow pets in the building. She begged me to trust her words, staying that she was christian and it was against her religion to commit a fraud. Anyways, from the beginning I thought it was a scammed but inner self really wanted the adorable puppy from the picture!
Be aware people and don't ever ever ever give you personal information to anybody online, unless is a serious company that you have references from or is well known and established.
PLEASE REMEMBER, ALL OFFERS OF PETS FROM CAMEROON AFRICA ARE SCAMS, WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS.

Avalon is a maintenance base for QANTAS. It is also the home of the Australian International Air Show each 2 years on the odd year (2007, 2009, 2011, etc.) It is also a passenger terminal for Jetstar and Tiger Airways.

Very interesting post, as I too watched aircraft as a young child right here. It saddened me to see this airport dwindle in the 90's. I now run Appalachian Inspection and Maintenance on this airfield, along side Elkins Aviation (flight school) and Advanced Avionics. This airport is once again coming alive!

Hey guys, let's be honest.
No airline will fly to Beja EVER even because the airport is closed and will remain that way since there are no one interested in operate it. This airport is just for show... and who would want to fly to the middle of a desert? If necessary you can take the road from Algarve or Lisbon and get there is a couple of hours.

The approach and departure are very nice.. There isn't much to do here while waiting for your flight however.

Isiolo International aArport
I see that works have stated for the construction of Isiolo International Airport. According to information by Daily Nation the runway is reported to be 1.4 Km. instead of 2 km as previously planned. The latter could accept more and biggest airplanes from far destinations, besides the two km runway could be sufficient for war plains in case of emergency due to instability of global politic that is unpredictable. Kshs 610m are not much for such an airport and the Government of Kenya is advised to plan well this first phase; yes, I would like to call it ‘first phase’ since, observing the other airports history, an extension, as a rule, ought to be considered. Besides I see that local problems have taken over the common interest of all Kenyans, since the airport could located in Kampi Garba area without squishing in the present site that noise pollution can destroy the new ‘Las Vegas’ as someone likes to call the future Isiolo, and avoiding the noise pollution, already protected by the Constitution. Anyway the airport is very welcome for the progress of all Kenyans not basically for the local people’s benefit.

the runway 2 kilometers is not in accordance to international standard; 2 Km only for light aircrafts, not for heavy aircrafts therefore Isiolo cannot be called International Airport. Needed 2.800 meters, minimum.The strong wind direction blowing 6 months a year must be considered since the present airstrip is caught by wind laterally, posing problems to planes for landing and taking off. The wind carries considerable dust damaging engines aircrafts. Intense forestation is need on the left side to stop dust. Tarmac and trees are a necessity to all town roads to prevent dust in the town.

Flew here again a couple weeks ago. Nothing has changed really - great terminal is still deserted. What a waste of $$. Maybe they should have spent some of the cash on signage. Noticed this time - there is not ONE runway or taxi sign on the airport. Even with a map from the AOPA database in Foreflight it was confusing finding runway 5 start. Paint is worn off as well so watch out crossing runways with no signs or markings.
OK place
Very convenient - nice girl at the counter - line boss was a little rude. Tower guy tried to sandwich me in front of another Cherokee on straight in final - asked me to turn toward the runway from my base leg. I did. Then he complained that I didn't turn enough towards the runway and then gave me a vector - which I followed. If ya want me to turn to a heading - tell me which and I am good - his vector put me on the numbers so my final was never established straight in - more like a 45 degree final. Not a problem really, but he was all pissy that he had to circle the other Cherokee on final - not my bad dude - I was Number 1 - was flying the base leg he told me to fly at an appropriate airspeed for the Arrow - 100MPH.

Regarding the events in 2011 in Libya, once this airport falls in the hands of the rebels, Gadaffi won't last a week.

i wish i found this first my son just got scammed by these same people out of 350.00 the deal was to rescue a parot, yet starpet said that the bird had eggs in their care, that the parrot is an endangered speci and that if we don't send money for vet bills and care of the eggs that they will report me and my son to the ASPCA for animal abuse. Im confused and embarrassed at this point i don't care about the money, i don't want animal abuse charges and i'm confused about the existance and where abouts of a parrot named sandi-did she never exist, or is she somewhere being miss treated.

They have a Great Flying Club, Some great people passionate about flying. Very handy location to sneak away to for a fly. User friendly runway, needs a packed lunch to get from one side to the other. Tend to get a bit spoiled for the little narrow ones. Easy to find; bear left a little at the big bridge and look for the big buildings. Watch for the "big Birds" tho.
