Kay's Restaurant
Very good. Seems to get a fair local non-airport trade in addition to itinerant pilots. The soft drinks are served in large mason jars, and the lemonade was delicious and welcome on a hot day. I had the ham-and-cheese club sandwich w/ fries. The tomato was fresh local produce; a good value at $6.50.

This is Vedia Aeroclub, in the MADHEL (Manual de aeropuertos y helipuertos) there isn´t CARDONE airport, but in the madhel mark a wrong lat and log vedia aeroclub.

Reply to @paulie: Yup, food is good there. Sat mornings folks from around Wisc fly in for breakfast. I haven't made that particular trip there, but I here that 10-15 planes will show up on a busy morning.
The terrain is quite pretty as the Wisc river has been a protected waterway for ages and very little development was ever permitted along it.
Can be slightly difficult to find. VOR or GPS will be your friend to get you close unless you stay pretty high so you can see down into the river valley to spot it.

Location on Google is wrong
The Google marker is showing the wrong locaton. The airstrip is actually about 7km west of where it is marked. If you look at the township of Cabramurra, the airstrip is about 2km NE of the township - you can see it pretty obvious on the satellite photo. Half of the airstrip is a bitumen surface, the rest is hard packed gravel, and there is a now a cloud seeding testign staton adjacent to the airstrip (as well as a weather station which has been there since around 1960).

Yes, I've cleared customs at ART. Unfortunately, I had to wait 30 minutes, because the customs people forgot about the meeting and didn't leave the bridge until I called on my cell phone.
If it's VFR weather, a better option is 89N Alexandria Bay/Maxson Field:

It's much closer to the Thousand Islands Bridge, so it's easier for the officers, and you don't have to wait as long if they forget.
Syracuse (KSYR) also has customs nearby, as does Ogdensburg (KOGS), which is at the next bridge down from the Thousand Islands Bridge.

I have, but only pre-9/11. It required 2 hours prior notice by phone, and don't you *dare* get out of the plane before the customs guy gets there. (Although it's ok to stand on the wing and pee if you have to - but only if you have a low-wing.)

Professional and Accomodating Staff
What else is there to say. If you have to stay at an airport, this is one of the better ones because of the staff. Friendly, professional, helpful. Made our stay great.
Puppy scam
I have been chatting with someone about a puppy only $150.00. Because I kept tell this person I was unsure they offered for me to pay half and after I received the puppy I could pay the rest. Finally I looked up the country and city and found this website amongst others. I immediately wrote back about my findings. I have not heard of anyone since.

Reply to @david: Yeah.. YKZ's aprons have always been uncontrolled. I don't know the reason why, because the tower has a clear view of the area. Before you could just call up "on the main apron" and you'd get taxi instructions. But now, the controllers want you to specify exactly where you are on the apron. Makes sense, this way they spend less time looking for you.

Worth the journey
The Tuskegee Airmen Museum in Hangar One at Moton is a moving memorial for the intrepid flyers who beat the obstacles as black airmen in WWII. Their success is an inspiration for every pilot.

Really nice airport. Too bad it is deserted... looks like a pork project gone bad.
History
During World War II, this was RAF Westhampnett. Two fighter squadrons (145 and 602) were based here during the Battle of Britain. Later in the war, the USAAF also used the field. It became a civilian airfield after the war.
Since the late 1940s, a motor racing track, the "Goodwin Circuit", has run around the airport perimeter.

Are there flights to and from Manila - Bagabag, NV? What kind, sizes of planes? We plan to go to Dupax del Sur on our next visit to P.I. Thanks.
