Is this a duplicate of SCGL? What is the proper one?

Is this actually still open?

It's still listed on AirNav, but there's a golf practice and training facility that's basically cut it in half.

Open 1976-2014

It is very weird to make DoorDash deliveries in a samey, bland neighborhood that used to be a thriving grass airfield.

Picture of animebirder

Long gone but ...

There are still visibility markers up on the power lines along Crystal Falls Parkway aligned with the south approach of this former grass strip in 2024!

Aggieland's Best

If you're gonna get a "hundred dollar burger", hard to beat Gate 12 Bar and Grill, which has unobstructed window seating for planespotters. Last time I was here (before COVID), the waitstaff showed me their photos of an L-39 that popped through here -- USAF and USN military trainers (T-6, T-38, T-44, T-45) are a very common sight here and much easier to see and photograph than in Austin.

Duplicate heading?

This might just be Scotia Airport which doesn't show up on the topos ...

A challenging field

Trees are at the ends of both runways, you kinda need to dogleg in and out and it's the second shortest paved strip in the country!

Great experience here

We took our 150 here and the guys in the shop gave us an almost 24 hr turn around on installing a Stratus Adsb and Hobbs meter in it.

Fuel stop

Great guy at the desk. Didn’t seem to mind at all that we came in a half hr before closing.

Picture of Ribo

Unique.

Enjoyed the long walk to the waiting aircraft from the boarding gate passing through a garden. Not seen it on any other airport I have been.

Great!

Although my time in Ecuador wasn’t that great, this airport became my favourite during my trip in South America. Uncomplicated, clean, spacious, plenty of seating areas with direct view of the runway.

re: VOR/DME 34 approach to be canceled

Thanks for your work creating this web site. I love it and have told all the other local pilots about it.

Rose Aviation 1973-1977

Hello anyone that worked for Rose from '73 to '77. My name is John Dickson and I, like othersm stumbled across this looking for info on Rex Rose for a good friend. I owe my entire airline career to advancements and good fortune I was able to enjoy working for Jean Rose and her Chief Pilot at the time, Art Olsen. If it wasn't for them and their trust in the young 20 year old I was at the time, I'm not sure where I would be. They both entrusted in me the position of flight instructor, charter pilot, and Telephone Patrol Pilot for PT&T from '74 to '77. I worked with some great people - Ray Patinelli, Gene Fitzpatrick, Joe Harrington, Rob Keenan, Greg Madden, Colby Bridget, Tom Rustemyer, George Chuili, Steve Toon, and dispatcher Nikki Caldwell. I remember very well Linda who has checked on with this blog - and would love to catch up on how Art Olsen lived the rest of his life. I have a great story about Rex Rose (actually two) that I would love to share for anyone who would like to listen. Just let me know. I'll keep any eye out. Anyone out there from that era?

Reply to @AraBoqueron: does the strip have an aerodrome code? Trying to find it in the CFS. Have you used the strip?

Great airport

Super fun to fly in MSFS. Would be cool to go there IRL.

Picture of rstan

Very Disappointing !!

We stopped at this airport for fuel BUT they just received a delivery of fuel and "had to settle" for 1.5 hours before being dispensed.

Unfortunate landing that could have been avoided if the FBO responded to our unicom calls as we approached the airport. There were no responses as we called out our positions. They did not communicate the fuel issue until we taxied to the fuel farm. Pretty sad lack of communication.

Firs timer

I Met a fellow lifeline pilot, Tad who flew my passengers the remainder of their trip from Omaha NE to Terra Haute IN. Jeff and Shawna were a great couple to have along.

Enquiry

Good afternoon.

I'm hoping that someone canhelp me with some information about this airfield.

I am looking at moving over to this area and would be bringing my Quik-R Flexwing with me and would be interrested in this location.

Do you have any information, is this a private airfield? is this a flying club? could I be resident at this airfield? is there hangarage?

I would appreciate any information you may have as I intend to visit within the next few weeks.

Thank you.

Carl.

I landed here on June 5, 1990 and spend the night. I was on a ferry flight from KICT to EBKT in a C172, on the leg KBGR-CYYR when I iced up about 30 nm north of the YEO beacon in a snow storm, and decided to make a 180 back to the strip. I woke up the next day to a foot of snow. A Coastguard Labrador picked me up later that morning and dropped me off in Wabush. Returned a week later with a beaver on floats, to fly the airplane out again.
