traffic patterns
When Griffiss was an active military base, the traffic pattern was kept to the north side of the runway: Left traffic for r/w 15 and right traffic for r/w 33. This kept the low flying aircraft away from the Rome Hospital andresidential areas of the town. Nowadays, it seems there is no traffic pattern of any kind with C-5s and C-17s roaring over the town and hospital at what appears to be lower than normal altitudes. What's going on? Are the old traffic patterns no longer published?

Friendly, charming airfield with grass runway in good condition. PA-28 got in and out very easily. Short taxi ride to Cromer and nearby coastal walks.

a jem of an airpark
we found the 2 runways very smooth for turf. great place to visit and tie-down for awhile.its a small airport with a lot of potential to be a very busy place of interest. the flying club there r very helpful gang of flyers.all in all its a cool place to touch-down and hang out on the huge deck over looking the runways

I was at the airport 2 weeks ago. They are extending the runway on both ends, to a total of 2kms! While I was there I saw a Cessna 152 and Cessna 172 on the pattern and did touch and go's and occasional full stop taxi back. Flight training is common here with planes coming from Mactan, Ormoc and Dumaguete.
If an airline would come in to establish a regular route from Manila, it would need a high capacity jet like the A319 or A320 to have the cost per seat mile as competitive as Manila Cebu or Manila Tacloban. Another option is a commuter type aircraft like the ATR72 or the Bombardier Q400 flying out of Mactan.

It's nice to land at an airport that wants the business for their community, CYPD is a friendly airport, cheaper fuel, no landing fees for private light aircraft as specified in their literature. However, like all airports as a port of entry make sure you know the entry procedures and when customs will serve you and the associated costs.

Today i came to Airport by fast track call taxi at Morning 3:30 am to catch a domestic flight & i am the single person travelling in that vehicle with an Laptop bag, i have not made the driver to wait for any thing once he as stopped the vehicle i immediately get down from the car allowed him to go from there, since i know very well about the Airport rules, But driver charged me extra 70 inr saying that's the rule, but actually at morning 3:30 am there is no traffic & also i have been travelling regularly & i have not paid also on my before travels, but this driver was not in good shape to speak & he says that's the rule,
I want to know is this a rule that we need to pay extra 70 inr even if we have not made him await & that to at morning 3:30 where there is no traffic in airport
My worry is for the regular traveler itself the scenario is like this than how come for the occasional travelling guys. they will be suffering a lot

Landing at the Airport
Some years ago I had the pleasure of landing and taking off again from the old air base. One runway was not too bad considering its age, but I believe it's probably deteriorating quickly now. I remember when the hangers were there sad to see them all gone now.
