Comoro
A bit surprising that Timor Leste has been an independent nation since 2002, yet still appears listed under Indonesia. I notice it is that way in the Jeppesen manuals too.
Lots of high terrain to the south, necessitating a steep descent when quite close to the airport. Runway is pretty rough, but adequate. Lots of helicopters here, mainly associated with UN work.
Christmas Island
I enjoyed my visit here, but it is a long way from everywhere.
Of particular interest are the huge crabs (Robber Crabs) that are everywhere, including on the runway. Check for availability of fuel.
Finley
Beware of the powerlines on approach.
Evans Head
A former WWII RAAF airfield, with plans to develop it as a residential airpark.
Emirau
An airfield built in WWII with still good paved runway surfaces. A lot of history here.
Cape Gloucester
Beware of ash and rocks from the adjacent volcano.
Caloundra
Home to the Queensland Air Museum, which is definitely worth a visit.
Bulolo
An incredible aviation history here, dating back to the 1930's, when Junkers were used to fly in a complete gold dredging plant.
Broome
Quite a busy airport, with lots of Cessna Caravans coming and going. A great town too.
Bialla
Always enjoyed flying in here, as it is well maintained. Recommend landing from the sea (RW11) and taking off on RW29.
Anguganak
Always humid here, and the airstrip is subject to occasional flooding.

I am a permanent resident abroad but what the Bureau of Immigration is doing under the guise of controlling human trafficking violates our constitution and it disgusts me. Do not allow this government to violate your basic right as a citizen because if you do, they will start chipping away more and more of our freedom. This Aquino administration is not about democracy as we can see.

Upslope Flyers' Paradise!
You know those MS Flight Simulator airports which, due to a program error, are sitting in the bottom of a pit with vertical walls around - so you need to fly in circles to climb out or land? Volk airport looks exactly like that in reality, especially when you stand at the bottom of the pit, where both runways are crossing each other. More, the longest runway is not only upsloped both ways - it is also curved, framed with tall trees, and has a rather uneven surface!
Well the hills and slopes surrounding Volk airport are not vertical, but they still look impressive. If you are flying a Super Cub or CH 701 - visiting Volk airport will be pure fun. But if you are plowing the sky in something like a 65 hp J-3, with its engine a bit too beaten to give you the full power, and the air is hot... Uhm... I would say be very, very careful - you may not make it out.
I think that Volk airport is one of the most exciting and challenging grass strips around Toronto, and Lisa from Golden Eagle flight school (goldeneagleflightschool.com) is a very friendly and welcoming person, nice to chat with. Just get a right plane to go there, and enjoy the adventure.
Stay away $500.00 fee
This was a private airplane that was charged the $500.00 fee. It said nothing about it on their website. They said no one ever complained about it before. I replied the landing fee at JFK in New York was a deal at $150.00 compared to Port Hawksbury. I will be contacting AOPA and CAPA about the fee.

Reply to @dazuppa: Even though funds aren't available to resurface the runway at this time, it really isn't in such a deteriated condition as you noted. It's never been closed so no need to 'X' the ends. It's used regularly by everything from ultralights to medium size twins. I was at the strip recently and there was a Cessna 310 and Piper Navaho along with a Cessna 182 RG on the ramp, an indication the strip is fully servicable and never an issue for your undercarriage, retractible or otherwise.
There was always a flight school at the airport until ownership changed. The school was operated by an Air Canada pilot and offered full training through multi engine and commercial.
The airstrip is just 40' wide, usually with a crosswind. In addition, on a windy day there may be some turbulence over the berm along the north side of the strip. The housing development on approach to runway 25 is never a problem. The airstrip is quite safe for landing but may be a little daunting for anyone having to deal with crosswinds and unfamiliar with landing on a short, narrow runway. The technique is somewhat different than landng at an airport with almost unlimited length. Fly the numbers, land on the numbers, stay near the centerline and your airplane will be just as happy as landing at the large regional airport.
I don't recommend an inexperienced student from a large airport use this for airstrip for his solo cross country, however 'experienced pilots' never have problems landing at Springwater.

I'm sorry to hear about the fee. Certainly, there was none for my little Piper a few years ago when I visited. I hope someone from the airport can comment on this incident.

Stay away. After contacting CannPass and recieving port or entry approval to land at Port Hawksbury, We were on short final gear down. The airport personal asked what type of aircraft we were. They then informed us that there will be a $500.00 landing fee. Remember their website says there is no landing fee. They were glad to charge this fee and said no other pilots complained about this fee. Looks like our US dollars will never go back.

On August 21, 2011 I purchased 2 poms from a Kristal Green in Greenville, Mississippi. (supposed to be) She said she & her husband would luv for me to take both so they wud not be seperated. Cost for transportation $360.00 to airport $400.00 home delivery. For 40.00 more it was worth it, then I get email telling me they needed to b insured 1100.00 (refundable) i like a fool sent it, then they tell me they need shots 1550.00 again I paid. Thinking this was it & they were on there way & wud b delivered again an email telling me I needed to pay for City permit & ownership papers. i did this also. Kristal Green (real name Elmeda Muta) promised on the bible that I would receive the pups. The man delivering them was robbed when he went to get the transportation money so he cudnt come down, then someone else tried to claim the pups. I can write a book about this. I have been scammed out of 9000.00 usd & they are still trying to get more from me. The flight tickets expired, feedings, robbery (of course nothing insured). They spoke of the LORD like true Christians. How can they use GOD so horribly. I may have lost the battle but not the war becuz I have GOD on my side & he will handle them on his time. Right now 2months & some days later they call me & say they have put up all the money but 200.00 usd to get them to me by Skypet. Skypet said they are doing me a favor becuz of Brian at Air France. I am very said that this has happened. They took my kindness for weakness & ran with it. i have never purchased animals over the internet & I believed in these people. So sad! I can keep writing but i need about 100 pages to tell all. Who can help me with this? i cant let 9000.00 just go out the window.

Upgrade
I agree that they should increase the runway to at least 10,000ft and upgrade the airport with boarding bays and add another terminal so more airlines will have accommodations Into Cheddi Jagan which will allow aircrafts like the 747 jumbo jet and the largest aircraft airbus a380, and will have more flights from Pearson International. i also recommend that they install an (Instrument Landing System) on every runway so aircrafts can do ILS landing in foggy conditions and low visibility.

That Brampton feeling
Huge runways in good condition, lots of GA planes, some impressive vintage aircraft (I've seen a T-28 and Cornell), completely messed up circuit with planes cutting on the final, joining it from any altitude and direction, doing steep turns on the downwind... reminds anything? I felt like it was another Brampton. Decent airport, but not so fun to fly around. If needed to land somewhere around Niagara, I'd think St. Catharines, not Welland.
