Friendly airport
Flew here for a Hope Air flight today. Everyone at the airport was friendly, especially the security guard.
There are two aviation fuel suppliers at Val-d'Or, Valpiro beside the terminal and Petro-T at the south end of the runway, but only Petro-T has 100LL. There's a little Casse-Croute (snack bar) in the terminal, but I'm not sure if it's always open. Since there were no scheduled flights due, the FSS guy let me park right in front of the terminal for an hour: the Petro-T truck drove up and fueled my plane a few minutes after I called.
The phone number for Hangar-Q (Petro-T) is 819-874-7000.
Be prepared to speak French: outside of Montreal and Gatineau, it's not a safe assumption that most francophones can speak English as well.

Yes, Helen & Joel are now deceased. Helen Passed away March 2010, Joel passed away in an aircraft accident in a Baron.
beja airport
Can't wait for beja airport to open - I have family in Alfandao and this will mean the my family wont have the long drive from lisbon. Just think can be relaxing at home within a couple of hours. Cant wait!!!!

Heavy arrival traffic, especially in the evenings. Expect to hold as long as 1 hr...yes 1 hr!
Colonia Nueva Valencia, grass strip and production site
I've been looking for this place for so long, and much to my surprise it is now clearly identified by Our Airports...
I had spotted this grass strip with Google but wasn't sure about it being the place I had visited in 1967. I was 19, ad traveled all the way up there from Buenos Aires on a single Piper Comanche with my father and two other guys, who were pilots. One of them was Cesare Preve, as the whole place, land and production site, was owned by the Frugone & Preve Ltd. My Italian-born father was manager for that company.
What memories! It was SOP before landing to overfly the site to have someone driving to the strip to pick us up, and to sweep the strip to make sure no loose cattle was around; before take off, a careful sdrive along the strip made sure that no cows could be close enough to opt for grazing across it. Sorting out unexpected quadrupeds while taking off from a soft field on a single-engine plane with four on board could make your day.
A story was told, that when the bushes were cleared up to lay down the air strip, a peaceful family of local indios, isolated and unknown to all, were found and had to be relocated somewhere else...
Not much to add, except I hope the families now living there are healthy, happy and watch their children grow up in that marvelous natural environment ... adios amigos

Lux airport is fine but.....
...feels just like a hospital.....yes, its smallness can get you to the plane quickly and back to your car/bus, the duty free is good, but customs officers look at you as if you have done something wrong, the airside bus drivers thnk they are gods, and Luxair's insistence that a phone's flight mode means it can NOT be used during flight, downgrades any hope of it being anything but a small, regional airport.

Owned and operated by the Springfield Flying Club. Communications frequency is 123.2 , uncontrolled. Friendly airport with lovely clubhouse . Coffee pot usually on and people to talk to. Fuel is available , both Avgas and Mogas. A variety of small aircraft including many advanced ultralights. Ski flying is popular off of groomed snow runways in the winter time. Oh it's not that narrow. A DH 125 landed and took off from there many moons ago. There's been; a MU 2, a Piaggio, Twin Otters, Queen Airs, a Lockheed 10A belonging to Air Canada, T 28 Trojans and Harvards to name a few have been into Guelph. Friendly staff and a nice restaurant with good food. The Tiger Boys also have an active museum on site.

Hello my name is Danelle I got scammed the same way and im pretty sure it was by the same people because the same thing you went threw we went threw but they promises us 2 yorkies they got us for over $1100, we paid shipping fee, crate fee, insurance fee, western union fee, they took our family threw hell, they told us our puppies died on the way to our airport....These people have to be stop i dont see how western union is still allowing these people to pickup money. Free Wifi!
YOW now offers free WiFi to everyone in their departure areas. With short security lines and free WiFi, the airport really beats the crap out of bigger ones like YOW and YUL. Customs lines can be long in rush hour, but are pretty good the rest of the time.
Free coffee and hot chocolate
Lufthansa supplies free self-serve coffee and hot chocolate in their waiting area. The cups are tiny, but you can get as many refills as you want, and the machine makes a wide variety of coffee types. If only they offered free WiFi as well ...
Broken WiFi
There were only two open WiFi signals showing up in my departure area (the B gates), and both of them redirected to the same server error on 2010-03-14. Unless you have your own 3G stick, don't count on working online while waiting for your flight.
Arrive early for your flight
GVA is a only medium-sized hub, but it's slower than a lot of big airports like LAX or CDG.
When I arrived for an Air Canada flight on a Sunday morning, there were already hundreds of people in several confused long lines for the AC checkin counter more than two hours before the departure time, and service was very slow (most of them had skis in huge bags to check). The security line was also long and slow, and I heard loud British passengers complaining they were late for their flights. After security, you have to line up a third time to show your passport for exit control (that wasn't a long line), then you line up a fourth time to show your passport and boarding card at the gate about 30 minutes before boarding, then you line up the fifth (and final) time to board the plane.
The moral is not to cut it close: at least on the weekend, 2 hours early for an international flight from Geneva should be a minimum, not a maximum. Or if you can, pick an airport like Paris CDG or Frankfurt FRA that's a bit better organized.
Ground transportation from GVA
Taxis are expensive in Geneva, even for the short distance from the airport to the Pâquis or downtown (CHF 34, more than EUR 20, for a few kilometers).
The good news is that you can take the train to the main station in the Pâquis in 10 minutes (there's a train every 10 minutes or so), or the 5 bus in about 20 minutes (it passes the exposition hall and the United Nations on the way). If you're staying at a Geneva hotel, when you check in you'll get a card for free Geneva public transit — including the tram, bus and train — for the duration of your stay, so the ride back to the airport will be free.

La Chimba airport does not actually exist anymore. It has now been converted to a housing estate. A few of the buildings and taxiways are still evident but no runway.

hi right now I have the same problem but this person seems so real he said that he really worry about the puppy if i dont pay for the insurance which is 825 so i told him that i dont have enough so he said he is willing to pay 425 and ill pay the other half. but i dont know im not so sure anymore after reading this site. he is willing to do anything to make me believe him. he send me some recent pics of the pups and promise me that they will arrived here to my house. 2 Bulldog Puppies
We were scammed. We sent half the adoption money which was 95 usd. We told the owner we would send the other half when the puppies arrived. The airport which was Douala International Airport Small Pets Department confirmed that the puppies were in transit and that they would go to france first then to our airport here in the states. When the puppies apparently arrived in france, Air France sent me an email stating that they need 570 usd for insurance paper work or they would quarantine the puppies for 2 weeks and it would cost 7000 usd after that. They also told me the 570 usd was refundable. When I googled the email address, it brought me to this site. I also notified Air France who told me that it was a scam, they do not have a small pets department. I informed the seller that he might want to get his local police involved to get his puppies back seeing that he was possibly scammed as well. Just a couple days before that I lost about 420 usd from a puppy scam from Nigeria. Told the wife we will save our money and buy a puppy here in the states. Can't trust anyone from West Africa, as I'm told from a buddy I work with who is from Ganna.

The green indicator on the map is sitting north/east of Darrow Field about 1/8 mile. The airport runs next to the dark green field just below and left of the indicator. If you look vary close you can read in white " Darrow Field ". Google has the field named Hettinger Pl. that also is wrong.
