Light rail into Boston

This station is about 4 miles from the west side of the field, and just over 2 miles' drive from the east side, on the Newburyport/Rockport light rail commuter line into Boston. The fare to Boston's North Station as of July 2009 was $6.25 ($3.10 senior/disabled), and you can take the subway from there to other parts of Boston.

Easy stop over

Nice air strip - looks like they may have either just built this, or they expanded it recently. FBO is a trailer, but very welcoming. Line crew (Kyle) was right there on the line with my rental car and tied the plane down. Very friendly and helpful. Hertz rental car had the car there on time, but it was dirty inside and out and was actually pretty tired for a rental - 38,000 on a rental is a lot - sounded like they were losing a wheel bearing in front - very loud - so not any kudos for them. Very convenient for me since I have business in both DC and Richmond - right in the middle and outside the SFRA - which is why I think there were some serious jets parked as well.

re: dont belive in people in cameroon

it's true!

they ask for a feeding fee and everything!

They say your puppy is starving and they will turn you in if you don't pay!

We have to find some way to turn them in!

Former student at Lincoln Park Airport

This is the first time I have seen this website, and I am pleased to see the response from others about the airport.

Back in 1962 on my sixteenth birthday my grandfather paid for my first lesson.

The plane was a Piper PA-11, tail number 4549M. The instructor was H.T. Buckley.

The lesson was only thirty minutes but the memory lasted a lifetime. That day I was introduced to Ed Gorski and his wife, and other pilots were in the office on that day. After that first flight, I spent every dollar I earned going back for more, for I could not get enough of this new experience which completely changed my life. I remember after I had soloed once or twice Ed would ride in the back seat for the first couple of landings, to make sure I was able to handle the cross wind conditions, he always seemed to have a cigar in his mouth and yelling orders from the back seat about what I was doing wrong. When I fly today I can still hear his voice and it brings back back fond memories.

There is a lot more that I would l like to share about my experiences at the Lincoln Park airport but the website does not allow the space it would require. I thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences.

Potential

I think this airport has potential if it can expand its runways to handle corporate jets. I'll visit one day...soon.

Landing in Khorog

Wow... That is some approach to the airport! I wouldn't like to do it in IFR let along VFR conditions! That looks like a deadly approach if you mess it up haha

ramp fee

$25 bucks for me to drop off a friend from my C172 seems somewhat excessive. Understand they need to make money and have no issue with that, but attach a value to the service. I was at the ramp for a moment and they had their hand out. Will go out of my way to avoid Exec air again.

re: Fiddymint field gone!

Reply to @ptomblin: Yes, it's still in the database, but if you look closely at the satellite pic, you can see a network of residential roads starting on the right, then fading out where an older picture of the airport is stitched in. Switch from satellite to map view, and the roads continue right onto the airport property. I think we have to conclude that the FAA record just hasn't been updated yet (nobody bothered to tell them). I'm going to switch the airport to 'closed', at least for now.

Picture of ptomblin

re: Fiddymint field gone!

It's still in the 02July09 FAA database.

Control tower coming in December 2009

Fredericton is currently a mandatory-frequency (MF) airport with a flight services station. It's the busiest non-towered airport in Canada, and Nav Canada has announced that the airport will be getting a control tower (presumably class D) in December 2009 with 12 full-time controllers:

It's closing

http://www.aviation.ca/content/view/7583/117/

"Blatchford Field Airport in downtown Edmonton City Centre will be closing the run-ways. At a vote today in council chambers, aviation just didn’t measure up.

The Airport was a primary learning base during WWll.

Edmonton City Centre Airport is a major Airport for air charter, emergency medical transport, and supply gateway to the north and it is too soon to tell what other implications the closing may have."

Formerly RAF GΓΌtersloh

This airstrip was formerly RAF GΓΌtersloh. The British Army took it over after the RAF's withdrawl, and now uses it as a helicopter and signals base.

Spent a night here 2009-07-07

I flew a relative here from Ottawa, then had to stay for the night because of thunderstorms along my route. Karine at Aeropro was very friendly, and between my French and her English, we managed to communicate. They found a tie-down spot for me, and there was no charge for the night's parking, since I'd already bought gas.

My first touch and go

Never realised how fast this operation takes... a few seconds. No time for chit-chat or welcome drinks.... off and away again.

Picture of scobolt

My first controlled airspace.

I was so nervous nearly missed the approach. Lovely place to have a snack.
