Reply to @david: I feel like the pilots going into St Barts enjoy the challenge. That hill being on approach due to prevailing winds seems utterly wild, but the frequency of incidents here is lower than many other more "conventional" airfields.

We sat on our plane for over an hour waiting for the truck to come and de-ice our plane then it ran out of de-icer and didnβt com back for over another hour! We were not updated and why is there not more support to de-ice planes? This is not good practice, customer service or acceptable for us to have to sit here for over 2 hours. I personally had to try to rearrange my transportation from the airport as I had a previously scheduled van pick up. Everyone is very frustrated.

Possibly briefly in use as a STOL strip, but not to be confused with the Aruba Flying Club airfield (De Vuijst Field) which was active from 1942 through the 1970s, to the south or the Palo Marga drag strip to the north, which hosted one landing and takeoff of a Canadian Learjet air ambulance 24 May 2006 which mistook Palo Marga for Queen Juliana International Airport (big whoops).

Rude woman at passport control swore at me! 16 Feb 2025
Upon handing over my passport for checking, I put away my mobile phone in my bag when she said in a sarcastic manner 'Let me know when you're ready'. At first I didn't hear/understand her so I said 'Excuse me?' to which she repeated in an angrier tone. She gave me dirty looks while flicking through my passport pages before throwing it back towards me. Of course, I was angry by that point so I went to grab my passport and boarding pass in a hurried manner to get away from her but she snatched my passport back and didn't give it to me for a minute, expecting me to apologise. She said I was being rude grabbing my passport in a hurry and expected me to apologise which I didn't! She eventually returned my items but hissed 'so f*cking rude' which perfectly described her disgusting manners. She was at the end of one of the passport control counters - a black woman with short cropped hair with black frame glasses. Sunday 16th Feb 2025

Really long runway. Saw a UN helicopter get held up by a goat. Love the city.
