Is New Cuyama going to Re-Open?

I flew in/over on May 28 2011 and my favorite airport had a big X over the numbers:-( Is there anything we can do to help re-open it?

Picture of

Meh

Bad service, rude staff, 1 hour to down town, no thank you. I'll pass through Calgary next time.

re: IATA Airport Code

Thanks for the comment. We already have "UBP" in the database for http://www.ourairports.com/airports/VTUU/ - do you know of a source to confirm which airport it actually belongs to?

re: Punta de Maisi Airport name

Thanks for the information. Google Maps still shows this as "Punta de Maisi" airport. Is there an official source where we can confirm the other name?

re: Stoney Creek Airport

Yeah great place to land and chat with friendly aviators. I was in one of their meetings and it included a guest speaker.

That night was about avionics, it was great.

They also had some pretty interesting presentations by Transport Canada, the place was packed, great ground support to land and tiedown. The food was great and affordable.

Great club to join

Stoney Creek Airport

Friendly airfield managed by EAA Chapter 65, two runways, one grass one paved, both are well kept.

Paved runway open for summer and winter flying.

Chapter 65 members always available and ready to help.

Graet place to fly, they have monthly meetings 2nd Friday of the month.

A lot of activity during the weekends

re: Wrong frequencies

This website isn't supposed to be a substitute for legal datasources like your own country's aeronautical information publications or Jeppesen. It's crowd sourced, which means if you know something is wrong, tell us the correct values and we'll correct what we have.

Picture of

Wrong frequencies

The communication frequencies are wrong. They are so out of date I WOULD NEVER TRUST THIS WEBSITE'S DATA.

re: noise compaling

Too funny and inaccurate statement. Maybe one should talk to neighbors that have been here over 30 years.

GIF - Winter Haven - Excellent Flight School (Tailwheelsetc)

Awesome experience with primary training. Intense and very rewarding. Family like environment.

Lovely Aerodrome

Very well maintained airstrip, with good approaches and easy to find, just north-east of Alliston. Northbound short final you literally fly between the hangars - though they are wide apart enough, no risk at all. Lots of nice private aircrafts in a good shape parked around - Luscombe, RV, square-tail Cessna, Cub, Kitfox... Tried to find the owner to say hi, but everything was closed and quiet.

Picture of

noise compaling

unfortunately this person making these complaints moved in May 2010. The airport has been there since 72. Getting a better real estate agent or looking at a map could have solved their problems.

re: Twin Oaks Airpark pilots harass neighbors

Reply to @david: The neighborhood has been around for 50 years and the airport only 20 something years. It always sounds like it is the homeowners fault but not true, in this case.

The airport has encroached and abused on the only settlement in the area with acres and acres of other land to fly. One pays higher prices in Oregon to live in the country and then the unscrupulous aviation interests slide things by the homeowners.

re: Twin Oaks Airpark pilots harass neighbors

I'm sorry to hear the neighbours are unhappy. Is the airport new, or was it built before the homes around it? Flying circuits ("patterns" in the US) is a very important part of pilot training and practice for experienced pilots - the planes take off from one end of the runway, turn, fly the opposite direction beside the runway at about 1,000 ft above the ground, and then come back and land on the same runway again (and repeat).

This is a normal activity at any airport, but sometimes it can be hard for people nearby, which is why most airports were originally built far from densely-populated areas where they wouldn't bother too many people. Unfortunately, unscrupulous developers will often come in and built subdivisions near airports anyway, and then not tell buyers the whole truth about what it means living near an airport (personally, I don't mind planes at 1,000 ft over my house -- I can't usually hear them over the city noise of cars, trucks, buses, sirens, lawnmowers, and construction).

Picture of

Twin Oaks Airpark pilots harass neighbors

The pilots out of this airpark harass neighbors next to the airpark with their low flying, and continuous flying around properties.

GA Friendly Airport

A very nice place to land while visiting the Niagara Falls (don't forget to check out the CYR 518 rules before attempting to fly over the waterfall!) Huge pawed runways, lots of parking space, absolutely friendly and helpful people at the FBO and on St. Catharines radio. Pleasure to visit or fly by, easy to find.

Worst Airport Ever

Let me list the reasons:

1)Last flight to Charlottetown always delayed. Always a different reason

2)Ground crew work for the Sopranos - if you land 1 minute early or or 1 minute late, the ground crew needs to be redispatched, forget it if lightning is seens 1000kms away, cus they are not going on the tarmac.

3)Small, dirty washrooms

4)Narrow congrested corridors

5)Terminal A under the tunnel is always sweltering hot

6)Terrrible food selection
