re: DO NOT LAND HERE

if you talk to me about private runway I agree with you....but on this site the classifications of aviation facilities are not very clear.....I am an Italian and in my language the classification is this "AEREOPORTI, BASI AEREE, AVIOSUPERFICI, CAMPO DI VOLO,IDROSCALI" I in English I can't translate "CAMPI DI VOLO" if I use the translator it writes airfield but an airfield(campo di volo) and a grass runway where only ultralight aircraft can land while an airfield (AVIOSUPERFICIE) is a facility where both general aviation and ultralight aircraft can land.

Reply to @Jan_Olieslagers: that remark was about the original incorrect location. All clear now.

re: DO NOT LAND HERE

It's generally never a good idea to land on any private airstrip without advance notice or permission except in cases of dire emergency. All headings and information here should be considered to be for informational purposes only, and contact information for owners of private airstrips may not even be publicly available depending on jurisdiction.

Short Flight

I flew to SXM (NL) from Anguilla (UK), the shortest international flight in the world on Anguilla Air Services. Then had a fun day at Maho Beach and went back to Anguilla.

Picture of

Error

I flew in to MSO and drove out and there was no airport around, if my comment is a error please tell me.

Picture of

Terrible

DFW is terrible, every time I go my bags either get lost or stuck at the airport. My flights always get delayed at least 2 hours 0/10

Picture of

An Empty Place.

I went from my home airport of DCA to DAY, it is amazing how it there are direct flights. We were on a CRJ-900 that was 3/4s Full but when we walked to the baggage claim it was long but nobody was there, like nobody. Even the people on our plane, the place was deserted but eventually we got to baggage claim.

Picture of

Anguilla

I have been to AXA around 10 times and the people were so nice! We got through customs fast and easily. The airport was clean and it was a 9/10 (the airport is a little small)

Picture of

Puerto Natales

Puerto Natales is a not a good airport, the line streched out of the airport and it took us 2 hours to get to the plane.

Picture of

Santiago Airport

I was flying LATAM from Puerto Natales, Chile and It was surprising how fast it was! We landed and the taxi was only 5 minutes, getting off the plane and the walk was long to baggage claim. Then we got some more Chilean Pesos and we went on our way.

Picture of

Terminals 1 and 2

I was flying from Ezeiza to Ushuaia and Terminal One was so small, crowded and terrible. I had to wake up at 2:00 AM for a 7:00 AM flight and we took off at 11:00 AM. Aerolineas Argentinas and Terminal 1 were terrible, but Terminal 2 was Great!

TERMINAL 2: I was flying on American Airlines from MIA-EZE and customs was ok, some kid barfed in the line and the customs line was a little long but the customs agent was nice and we got thru easily, it was modern and had restaurants, cafes and more.

Mystery solved

Posted address on FAA and AirNav is incorrect, Western Surgery Center is adjacent to Cache Valley Hospital in North Logan.

CGI - Great Airport

I've only visited by automobile so far so I can't speak on specifics like fuel and related services.

CGI is a small regional airport that's big on amenities. Great FBO for passengers and pilots alike. There's a good restaurant called The Pilot House that has a great view overlooking the flight line and runways. One carrier (Contour Airlines, as of August 2023) based here that has affordable flights to Nashville, TN.

Everyone I've encountered here has been friendly.

re: Name of the airport.

Iwo Jima originates from an English language misreading of the Japanese 硫黄島 Iōtō ("Sulfur Island") as "iwo shima" prior to World War II. This name has been immortalized in name of the battle fought here in 1945, but the proper and official name of the island is indeed Iōtō (or in older transliterations "Iwo To" or "Iwautau") with "Iojima" being a persistent but incorrect reading that is protested by the descendants of the people who lived here before evacuation during the war (and the subsequent and continuing use of the island as an air base).

New Airfield in final stages of development

New location for the historical CovilhĂŁ AirClub, which lost it's original infrastructure located 1km West to give way for the construction of a data center...

The runaway is mostly 'built', but consolidation works are still underway and is not yet open to the general public and is pending certification. The new HQs for the AirClub are located North accross the field the runway is in in the village's old Primary School building - a Windsock is visible on this building whcih helps identifying it!

Nowadays the airstrip has something piled up in the middle, but the surface quality is still good.

Picture of punarinta

(no subject)

The airstrip is basically unusable as for today, looks much worse than on a satellite image.

Picture of punarinta

The airstrip is still in good condition as for today.

The Red Baron was here.

We stopped to pick up a passenger on our way home from Indiana and the Red Baron landed just after we did.

re: Better get it right

Reply to @Randallksparks: It is quite short and narrow. The trees were a bit unnerving but I got it right and stuck it down on my first flight as a PPL.y CFI was great.

re: Yearly Event

Reply to @david: The seaplane event has not taken place for many years now, I do not think any seaplane activity remains here. Do we want to keep this entry?

Picture of AlanM70

Looks vary nice

We had people waiting to pick us up and it was after hours so we didn’t go into the FBO. But it was vey clean and mowed up nice

Airport might move

Heard they want to move the airport about 50 ft northward of the road to make room for more development but that’s only what I heard, might not happen but who knows

Picture of punarinta

Surface is barely usable nowadays. Obstacles (bushes) are present at both ends of the runway.

According to Navigraph, this landing/runway is 3050 m / 10.007' !

Picture of animebirder

Mystery solved

The FAA and AirNav coordinates placed this incorrectly well to the north, but a chance spot of N7802K (private Cessna 180J Skywagon) observed taking off from there on 17 Feb 2023 finally solved this mystery

Picture of animebirder

Duplicate

Turns out this is the actual location of TA55 Del Valle, whose FAA coordinates were way too far north.

Looks like this airport does not exist anymore. The code SEJM has been removed from the latest ICAO7910 doc.

sorry

I AM very sorry of confusing that airstrip with CYSH, my brain was stupid at that time.

Runway is overgrown and the asphalt is broken in many places, no fences and the old Soviet terminal has broken windows.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter Base

Very cool base to visit and watch the incredible Westpac helicopters taking off and landing up close, you just have to time it well and hope that one will go coming or going when you get there. Easier said than done : )
