re: It's a very friendly airport now!
Reply to @david: I agree with the assessment that Reid-Hillview is a friendly airport which offers a range of services. I would add that it is a convenient airport as well. I am amazed with its close proximity to downtown San Jose and far less hassle associated with getting in and out of the nearby San Jose International airport that more business people traveling via General Aviation do not utilize it.
The airport has the potential of becoming an even better airport if the Santa Clara County folks who oversee it would realize that it would be to their advantage to allow a restaurant to re-inhabit the terminal building.
Nice Place to stop
The FBO at plymouth is very friendly and there is a wonderful resturant with airplane parking right out front. Just a 10-15 minute hop to Provicetown Municipal. Which is a big advantage over driving, because driving take at least an hour and a half. Also easy quick access to Hanson, Boston, hyannis, Nantucket, Chatham, and Martha's Vineyard. There's an air shuttle to take you to Nantucket and the Vineyard. 10 minute drive to Plymouth center. Rental cars are available.
re: It's a very friendly airport now!
Thanks for the update. Next time work takes me to NoCal, I'll pay another visit.
It's a very friendly airport now!
The rude controller was a big pain in the rear end, and was finally "persuaded" to resign.
The county supervisors and the city now support the airport.
It's a very friendly airport now. Airport terminal has snack, soda and coffee machines. Airport Shoppe (open Mon - Sat, 9-5) has a wide range of pilot supplies plus prepackaged sanwiches and similar food items. Four flight schools - including tailwheel, vintage and aerobatics at AeroDynamic Aviation. Two maintenance shops. Cessna dealer. 24hr self serve gas plus three truck based fuel services.
Time to visit again!

Nice place to fly near Atlanta
I did my primary training at RYY and then rented for a while until I moved. I liked the size of the airport and the fact that it has a tower, but is small enough that they have plenty of time to talk to you and the jets are never really in the way. Easy to fly in and out of, and the Atlanta Bravo is well above the airport. Haven't flown there as a visitor from another state, so I can't vouch for the FBO, but I really liked Superior Flight School when I was there.
Nice FBO and great fuel prices
They are gradually building up the facilities at this new airport. The FBO building opened recently and it's very nice, with good meeting space and a modern architecture. They are luring fliers (at least piston fliers!) with some of the cheapest 100LL prices in the area, so if you're nearby you should stop in.
Current Updates
Jet A with prist $4.45 / 100 LL $4.95
Airport Open, Construction has ended for winter, runway lights now functioning..
Taxiway Lights still Out..
AWOS SERVICE RESTORED..
Glider landing options
Glad to discover Yarrow (28PA). It's always good to have landing out options in view! Thanks for keeping this airstrip operational. I'll watch for it from the air.
re: Republic Aviation
I also joined the Air Force. Learned to fly. Got to sit in the cockpit of a F-105 as a kid.
Republic Aviation
I grew up there. When I was a little girl, 6 or so, I asked my mother what Daddy did at work. She said: ask him when he gets home. After dinner, I did. He asked me if I wanted to go to work with him on Saturday. He had to go in on Saturday for 3 hours in the morning. So, I went with him. Even though he was in meetings "up the street" as they called it, (Conklin Street), I stayed in his office, in the main hanger above the assembly line and watched them build the F-105. I used to sit on the 3 foot wide cat walk, 4 stories in the air with my feet dangling over the side. We did this for years. Then we would pick up his dry cleaning in Farmingdale and do the food shopping at the A& P on Broadway in Hicksville and go home. 1957, we started this. The truth is that had my father and many of the middle management people not fought to keep the plant open, Fairchild would have closed it as fast as Northrup closed Grumman. But Republic stayed open till 1988. 20 plus more years.
sight seeing flight
My husband loves to fly and he and my son took a sight seeing flight out of this airport and i was wondering if they still over these flights and what the prices are now? my email address is rachelcarroll012@yahoo.com if someone could please get me this info.
Good lunch run
Great restaurant. Friendly staff.
Wings of Alaska
Can you tell me what terminal this airline is located at MCI? Is there on line check in available for scheduled flights?
Boeing
Location of the Assembly point of Boeing
approach
interesting place. Surrounded by mountains - approach carefully. Slope up hill on 28 like a ski jump. Nice FBO - odd in the middle of nowhere. People came out in a hurry b/c they thought the pump was broken. Stopped for fuel on the way home. I'd stop again.
airport upgrades
The airport is currently closed getting new lights a new beacon and a new awos system. The airport also received a new piece of snow removal equipment last year . Keep up the good work Mr. Roman!!!!
Air Canada 767's
some of Air Canada Boeing 767-200/ER are stored here waiting for scrap.
Hotel Rooms
There is no accomodation available in Williston, all occupied by oil people. The FBO is wonderfull, offered coach and Crew Van, saved the day.
don't do it
Gail died and the field has a pivot across it as well as overhead power.
Whitehorse Ranch Airport
Great landmark when flying the Black Rock / Owyhee area. Good emergency field, the associated ranch is about 3/4 mile East of the strip. Probably not a good idea to drop in uninvited without a really good reason.
Wittman
Winnebago County could care less about this airport, there is no promotion what so ever, meanwhile Outagamie and Austin Straubel have first class facilities...What a waste of taxpayers money..
Berz Airport
Well someone has there facts wrong, I was a regular at Berz from 1961 to 1970, I was employed there from 1966-1970. No Learjet came in 1967 that's for sure. October 1966 American Jet Leasing was the first Lear to arrive and depart at this airport, the next time a Lear came in was 1968 when Bill Freehan and Denny McClain chartered one from Pepsi-Cola to fly to Denver after winning the World Series. Berz was sold to Rockwell and it became Grand Prix Airport in 1971 that remained until the county bought it where it is now Oakland Troy Executive..
Pilot Pete's
Great airport restaurant
Fuel Prices
there fuel prices are outrageous there asking $4.60 for 100LL and $4.25 for jet Fuel. Why arent they all arested and put in jail for price gouging.
airport management
who is the manager of the hazleton airport. Do they have an advisory committee. if they have either it appears useless. I have never seen an airport that size that is in such poor standards. no quality no lites no management my future business? I dont think so!
weekday line service
the line serviceman during the week appears nonexistent. no one answers the radio no one comes out to greet you and if you can find the employee in question he is usually asleep.
Closing soon
This airport is closing soon, to be replaced by KECP. The scheduled airline service has already moved.
Replacing KPFN
This new airport has already replaced KPFN (Panama City-Bay County International Airport) for scheduled airline service, and will take over general aviation as well when KPFN closes.

Ganze Ranch Airstrip is now a par 5!!
The ranch is now part of the Firewheel Golf course. The "airstrip" might be a bit rough to land on these days....watch out for the bunkers!!
Twin Oaks is Great
If you haven't been to Stark's Twin Oaks Airpark, well get in your plane (or car) and head over to this little airport. It's a great place to train.
re: MOORE AIRPORT HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR YEARS
Marked as closed -- thanks.
MOORE AIRPORT HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR YEARS
Note multiple building along what was once a runway
Private airport
This is now a private airport owned by Aero Adventure (www.sea-plane.com). They manufacture amphib ultralights and will allow you to fly into their field for a tour and a test-ride. You will need to contact them first and sign a waiver.
Very accommodating
Very nice uncontrolled airport close in to downtown Tampa and in the Class Bravo. The FBO is very nice and helpful. They drove us to the Florida Aquarium and then picked us up at the end of our day. Can't beat that.
Great for training
This is a great airport for training in the Miami area. There are lots of choices from big to small, and heli, too. There are also some low-profile operations that do not advertise so ask around to find out what is there. The airspace is varied also. Class Delta adjoining and right under Class Bravo and uncontrolled X51 is only minutes away.
Super FBO
Banyan is one of the top FBO's in the country. They have a nice restaurant next to the ramp and an incredible pilot's shop. I found out about Banyan when I rented a plane from a fellow up at FXE. Then went there for breakfast a few weeks ago on a simulated instrument flight. Had to laff when they parked my somewhat tatty C-172M right in front and then guided this huge private jet (like the size of a regional jet) to park right next to us :)
Memories la la la
This is where I learned to fly many years ago. Don't know if I would go back there now. Landing fee and high ramp fees and high fuel to boot.
Be QUIET
This place has major noise issues and limitations. The old story of build an airport in the sticks then high-end homes go up around it. Flew here to visit a friend after taking up flying again; took three tries to get the plane down (high approach speed and C-172 floaaaat - luckily I had enough sense to go around twice). I had not flown in decades, did a long review, and rented a plane but still needed a lot more practice. I am about 40 - 50 hrs further along now and much better.
Don't get me wrong, tho. The FBO is very nice and the folks there are friendly!
Florida Keys :)
This was an airport I visited many years ago when I first got my PPL. My best friend had access to a house on the key. Lately I have flown there a couple times on cross-country toward my instrument rating. A nice flight but the FBO was closed each time, I think.
Shortest public field in South Florida
First, Everglades City is a great destination. Or so I hear. There are great seafood restaurants in town and any of them will pick you up at the airport. The FBO also has bikes for you to use. Unfortunately, I have been here five or so times and and it was always after hours. That is because it was summer in Miami and I flew in the evening. I flew there for the 50nm distance and the short field. It is nice to practice short field landings on an actual short(ish) field. Adds that element of realism :)
Practice flying in ground effect
This airport has an interesting story (google it) but it is basically a unused runway @ 10,000 ft long! You technically need a permit to use it but my flying club has permits for all its aircraft :)
What I like to do here is fly along the runway in a flare getting a feel for ground effect and drifting the plane from side to side to fine-tune my handling. If there is a crosswind (unfortunately rare) then all the better. At 60 mph that is almost two minutes of practice per run! More than you get on 10 normal landings.
Great for practice
I like to come down here when the wind is blowing and practice crosswind landings. It is uncontrolled and not very busy and has runways at right angles so if there is a wind, then there is a crosswind runway. Wind in South Florida is usually 090, less often 270.
Property
Wanting to know about your airpark.

Excellent Airport

— Anonymous Flyer at Evansville Regional Airport, United States
Great runway options, excellent approach/departure and tower personnel, smooth ground operation, plenty of nearby hotels (great Marriott but many other options too). Fuel prices tend to run high on 100LL. Ramp personnel are friendly, skilled, and helpful. I currently hanger there. Have also done training there, MSN, and PDK; EVV is a great beginner and low stress class C refresher location but a little sleepy for advance traffic work. Also doesn't have anything in the way of higher performance or multi-engine training aircraft available. Community is worth the stop too; don't think Indiana corn fields but rather more Ohio River Valley hardwood forest area (big high-end furniture area).
